Who in your field do you look up to inspire to be like or admire and why?
I admire Kanye 9thwonder Pharrell Jdilla & DJ screw. Pharrell got his hands in everything music and movies and he was drippin his own sauce before people thought it was cool being himself is what stamped him and that’s what I plan to do. Jdilla just a icon in the sample game donuts is the hardest tape nobody rappin on feel me . And Screw hold it dine for the Southside and that’s exactly what I’m doing he started the chopped n screwed and we always finna pay homage cuz that’s our bloodline we came from that and I was really catching that 77 of Selinsky in South Park DEA clover land sugarvally sunny side. Just know he had a big effect on how I do things to this day
None of us would be where we are today if it wasn’t for some form of mentorship or free game being dropped on us. What gems do you have to give to someone looking to get into your field?
Do you ,slice your own sauce . Always be teachable we learning everyday.
How was it growing up? Was it always or were there struggles? What are some of the struggles you had to overcome?
Fasho a struggle my pops and mom came from Mexico Between me and my older brother and sister we was always on the slim side on splurging . My Tee lady ain’t had no car and so she would take the bus to work n pick me up from daycare everyday on time. Then we would walk down telephone where we stayed it be late by then. Pops be getting home late from construction worn out nails purple from him using the hammer all day. My parents went to college and graduated in Mexico but because they ain’t know English that good they were always treated like second class citizens. They would take us out to Almeda Mall when they had time off work but just to look we knew we wasn’t poppin tags in that bitch. My friends would invite me out to the movies n shit but I knew my people ain’t had all that sometimes cuz they had to catch up on bills and get groceries so I’d do some Mexican shit n cut some grass. They would take us to Mexico for the summer to be with our granny but would leave cuz they had to work I had a job in Mexico in the summer cleaning bottles making 100 pesos a day just cuz I knew my people ain’t had it like that . I never had a cell till I was in college only trap phones that I used from them to time. Didn’t go to prom cuz my people ain’t had enough for suits n shit. We would always b at the free clinic at ripleys or of Cullen cuz we fasho never had insurance too
And what u know bout one pair or forces for the whole school year. N shit I had to overcome being Hispanic In a predominantly black industry. People always gonna think they know where you come from and what u limited to cuz u a mescan I’m here to show that this mescan got sauce lol
