Growing up in Flint, Michigan Louie Ray chose a life of hustling to stay out of trouble. He began rapping just 9 years ago, before the birth of his son. He reflects on how rap has excelled him in life and the positive transformation it has made on his hometown. He speaks on how his small town doesn’t receive enough representation for their original style of rap, which is featured in lots of Midwest rap music. Recently, he has been the topic of discussion his song “Cash App” going viral and celebrities doing the “Too Loud Challenge”. However, for him becoming a TikTok sensation did not reflect with a significant increase in streams for his music.
His brother is one of Flint’s hottest rappers, Rio Da Yung OG. His brother’s incarceration has motivated him to fill the spotlight and make sure his legacy isn’t overshadowed. It has also shown him there were disingenuous people in his circle that abandoned them though these challenging circumstances. He injects that even at the height of his career, he is never too busy for the people in his life.
His expansive hustle mentality and love for cannabis has inspired him to craft several different marijuana strains. As a connoisseur of the herb, he wanted to ensure that what he offered and smoked was of premium quality. He gained guidance for MCD Lou who helped him understanded how to grow a pristine strain though soil fertilization.
