Name
Aaliyah Duz It
What is your profession?
Artist/ Creative
How did you get into the field that you are in today?
My boy Mikcraw was on my ass about getting in the studio and I kept putting it off til I finally hopped in the booth and been in there ever since
What do you love most about your profession?
I love that it’s a free expression of yourself. you can say whatever you want and feel out the vibe and it just lets you be creative.
Tell us more about what you do?
I’m a songwriter, vocalist and performer from Dallas. My process starts from a thought, something I wanna speak on or feel in my heart. After that, I find the right beat to match the vibe and then that’s when the magic happens.
When did you discover that you had a passion for this field?
I have been writing poems and stories since I was a kid. Once my teacher started telling me that I was reading and writing 2 levels above my grade level, I knew I had a gift. I put it off for a while until about 2018, that’s when I started working my craft.
Who in your field do you look up to inspire to be like or admire and why?
I’ve always looked up to Dolph. He was the most genuine and real person in the industry, I aspire to be like him in my career cause don’t nobody keep it 100 like he did. His lyrics were so motivational to me I got him tatted on my thigh.
None of us would be where we are today if it wasn’t for some form of mentorship or free game being dropped on us. What gems do you have to give to someone looking to get into your field?
CONSISTENCY IS KEY. It’s easy to catch attention but you gotta keep the momentum and run with it while you can!
Where are you from?
North Dallas, Texas
How was it growing up? Was it always or were there struggles? What are some of the struggles you had to overcome?
For the most part I grew up without a father. When he was around, he was trapping and doing his own thing. I grew up with my siblings in a 1 bedroom apartment. My mom is my mother and father. Fuck a nigga.
How important is family and friend support? Do they support your business?
VERY. blood is thicker than water so I take my family seriously. They support me 100%, they even make music themselves.
What would you tell a younger you about life?
I would say the little stuff doesn’t matter. all the extra shit doesn’t matter down the line, bigger things are gonna happen that won’t need those distractions.
Who inspired you growing up and why?
Honestly, I never had any inspiration growing up. Hell, the struggle inspired me. Never wanting to go back broke inspired me.
